Your Shipping Options
Generally you have two options to move your effects
internationally: By sea or by air. Land transport applies only to moves
within Singapore or to moves to Western Malaysia.

Sea Shipment
There are several options available to you if you are considering
shipping your effects via sea freight. Full Container
Load - Sole use container
- After packing your effects will be loaded into a metal
container and sealed at your residence. There are the following
types of container:
20’, 40’, 40’ high cube and 45’ (45’ to the USA
only).
- Your container will be delivered directly to the port without
the need for further unloading or handling.
- Transit times are faster because there are no other delays in
waiting for more freight to fill the container.
Groupage Shipments - Shared use container If you are
taking less than a full container worth of effects, our partners
will be able to provide you the option of Groupage. This is
a cost effective method of shipment but transit times can be
longer as there is a period of consolidation prior to dispatch.
This period can be prolonged in off-peak times (October to May).
Whether or not consolidation is available depends also on whether
the mover has containers with room left going to your destination.
LCL - Less than Container Load Consignments
- This method is used when there is an insufficient cargo to
justify the use of an entire container, and a fast transit time
is required.
- Shipping companies and freight consolidators provide this
service by consolidating freight from different shippers to a
common destination into container loads.
- Your goods will be cased and sealed in a wooden box to
ensure maximum protection during transit.
- This method is more expensive than a Groupage service
because of the additional casing and the higher freight costs.
Air Shipment
- For items you require quickly, airfreight offers a faster
transit time. Many people choose to take "survival" shipments
of their personal belongings.
- Air freight is generally more expensive than sea freight but there are situations where even entire households may
prove to be more economical to be forwarded by air. Generally
all volumes can be sent by air – it is only a matter of price.
- There are two main shipping options available: "loose" or
in an "air carton". The latter being more expensive due to the extra weight added by the
"air carton". The
advantage, however, is that everything is neatly held together
without the risk of things getting lost.
Storage
All our partners can provide secure long- and short term storage at
origin or at destination for items you do not require immediately. For our
Category I and II companies your items will be stored in
24-hour-security warehouses. The facilities are directly on the grounds of
the moving company (in Singapore) or their agents’ (at destination).
For Category III movers storage is available too, but may be
outsourced to a third party’s facility.
