Why “Crossroads”?

The name “Crossroads” was chosen to reflect Singapore’s unique geography, history, culture and society. Located at the southern tip of the Malaysian Peninsula along a key shipping route, Singapore sits at a strategic position between the Far East and the rest of the world. Once a colony of the British Empire, Singapore has long been an important trading post. Her colonial heritage and important port have seen the development of a multi-cultural and multi-religious society that blends East and West. Today Singapore is a wealthy, progressive and technologically-advanced country with a quality of life on par with (sometimes exceeding) the developed countries of the Western world. At the same time, Singapore society continues to uphold relatively conservative Asian values. All these factors, coupled with a business-friendly environment, solid foreign policy, and the widespread use of both English and Chinese in all spheres of life, have allowed Singapore to make deep inroads into the two largest economies in the world – the United States and China.

Decisions regarding education and healthcare are among the most important choices we make in life, and making important decisions often means wading through a mass of information and choices. Standing at such a crossroads — trying to figure out where one is and which path one should take — can be bewildering. For those unsure of where they are, we aim to help them get their bearings, much like a pin on a map that says, “You are here.” For those unsure of what paths are available to them, we aim to provide guidance so that they can make informed choices. For those ready to move further down a chosen path, we aim to facilitate that journey.
